Obstruction/Interference
Had a freshman game last night, had a partner that was a little bit "unsure" (read bad).
Play one: runner on second, grounder to F6. F6 and R1 brush shoulders, partner doesn't call interference. "There wasn't enough contact." Play two: Bases loaded, no outs. Fly ball to right center, runners all tagging. Ball dropped, R2 (on second) has to dodge F6 who is standing in way of runner. BU never calls Obstruction (no signal no nothing). When asked by partner (me) says, "if she would have been out, I would have called it." What do you think should have been called/signaled? |

From what you describe, I'd have called interference in the first case and signaled OBS in the second. In the OBS case, of course you don't enforce it unless the runner is out.
