Finally, after being snowed & iced & even wet-fielded out of every game so far - I think I'll actually get onto the field tomorrow. Spent this evening polishing shoes & getting uniforms ready. Not quite as bad as last year started, but the weather has cost me a few hundred in lost game fees.

Heck, at least you can blame it on snow and ice. In the first 3 weeks, I got to call one night. The rest were lost to rain and wet fields. The one night I got to call, we finished the 1st game (7 full innings)in 1 hour 10 minutes. The 2nd game was called in the top 1/2 of the 2nd inning because the lights blew a fuse and it couldn't be fixed. I feel cursed. I'm just gonna start thinking about spring ball. I'll never get a school game again.

After being weathered out for the first three games on my schedule (first snow, then cold, then wet field) I got my chance to call my first game this afternoon. I had the dish and had a blast. Took a couple of innings to get the rust off. No major complaints or close calls. I forgot how much fun fast pitch is after doing football and basketball. I was jacked all day waiting for game to start. It was a clean game home team won 3-1 in 85 minutes. Next game scheduled for Friday but weather is going downhill rain expected for the next 2 out of 3 days.

Guys, I feel your pain. Been calling for over a month this season, did 2 freebie scrimmages Sunday, blue skies, 2-5 mph winds, high 60's, brand new fields,.....
Yeah, I'm rubbing it in! Good luck, and I'll try and send ya'll some of our beautiful Georgia weather! |

I know what you're talking about, Steve. The fields are still crap over here. I was scheduled for 3 scrimmages and each one was cancelled. I'll be in Philadelphia from Thursday through Sunday (in which the temps are supposed to get up to 60, go figure), so there goes 2 more days of games, unless anyone knows anyone from Philly who needs a blue. I'm thinking maybe next Monday there might be some chance of a game... hopefully. But, knowing my luck, I doubt it.

I know how you guys fell about the weather. Well Yesterday started the season off. Last night weather was in the 40-50 last night. Nice cooled brezze. But atleast I called one games lastnight.
Hey Jel, I did good last night. I just relax, had fun and the game was over in 4 innings 20 run rule came quick. Calling again thursday with Chuck my roommate at the Clinic. You remember the lefthand little guy. |

Just a little rubbing in here of my own:
Yesterday, had a JV/V contest, 73 degrees at game time. Sigh...life can be so rough sometimes!

We're in the middle of our season down here.
Worked in CNY for many years and we were lucky to get a game in in April, then May was wall to wall games ! Wet fields and rain is seldom a problem here. Lucky me !

Well, for the first time out for each of us - the games went pretty smoothly. Timing may have been a little quick in the first inning on the plate - for each of us - but then we slowed down & both games went on.

Red Face is for the Sun we been having.
Steve,
Glad to hear you finally got to hit the "beach". Hope the weather stays good for you. Did my 71st game last nite. Mostly NFHS, have done couple of qualifiers for AFA, and NFSA. Even an ASA thingy.
