That 43 runs was not due to a juiced ball... it was due to a complete inability to find the strike zone. If memory serves, they tried 3 different pitchers - none of which had ever pitched. There were numerous walks - and even a few HBP that I ruled they did not attempt to get out of the way of the ridiculously slow pitch. The occasional strike was usually swung at and hit - but it was predominantly walks.
The girl in the bottom of the inning was better, accuracy wise - but zero speed. Some pitches nearly legal in SP (6'arc). That team was doing a lot of hitting. Coaches on both sides complained about the pitching rules - which I've never seen before written quite like this. Both coaches had been taking their teams to tournaments around the area - and their girls were used to pitching an inordinate number of innings during a single day. |

I don't believe I've ever done a tournament with pitching limitations. FP softball is very different from baseball in that pitchers seem to be able to throw practically indefinitely, retaining speed and not getting sore. I've seen some of the local heroines firing away just as hard in their fourth game of the day as in their first.
