3 feet avoiding tag

USA Rule 1- BASE PATH: A line directly between a base and the runner’s position at the time a defensive player is attempting to tag that runner.
USA Rule 8-7-J A. When running to any base in regular or reverse order and the runner runs more than three feet from the base path to avoid being touched by the ball in the hand or glove of a fielder.

NFHS Rule 2-3-2. . Base Path – The traditional path traveled by a runner who is attempting to advance to the next base. It is defined by a direct line between two bases and 3 feet on either side of that line, unless a fielder possesses the ball and is within 3 feet of the runner and prepared to apply a tag. A base runner who attempts to avoid a tag by running more than 3 feet to either side of a fielder in possession of the ball shall be declared out.
NFHS 8-7- ART. 1 . . . Running to any base in regular or reverse order and the runner runs more than three feet (0.91 m) from the base path to avoid being touched by the ball in the hand(s) of a fielder.

Do you agree with these conclusions?
In USA Softball, it is clearly dependent on the attempted tag, not the base line.

The essential same would apply in NFHS, dependent on the bolded wording (fielder has ball, prepared to tag, tag avoided by runner).
