Baseball rule to softball

Well, it is not detached equipment, shirt worn in the proper place, etc.
There is a rule about a ball caught in catcher or umpire, but I don't have time to see it if applies.
On the fly, just a no catch, same as if stuck somewhere outside garments.

Wouldn't be a catch till it was secured in a glove or hand.

ART. 6 . . . A ball prevented from hitting the ground by a player's equipment (providing it is in its proper place) or body shall not be ruled caught until the ball is securely held in the player's hand(s) or glove/mitt.

Which it was, wasn't it? The only thing I could see preventing that would be if an umpire, thinking the ball lost, called time before it was found inside the player's clothes.

yep. But in case of the early kill of the play or the fielder drops the ball.

I've had a few times this year where I completely lost the ball becayse it either went straight up or went straight to the pitcher and I got blocked out by the catcher. Great reminder to never get quick on foul calls. There was a play on FB last year where a ball went up high. PU calls it foul. Ball is caught in fair territory by the SS 20 feet from 3B.

OBR seems to hinge this on the meaning of the word "use" in the phrase "use...part of his uniform in getting possession". AIUI, the ordinary wearing of clothing and equipment does not constitute using it to get control of the ball if the ball just contacts it passively. For instance, having the ball hit one's head and lodge between one's cap and the top of one's head is different from taking one's cap off and using it as a scoop to catch the ball.

If we were to be expansive about "use", though, a catch could not legally occur following the ball's getting stuck under the shirt in the instant case, nor even after bouncing off the front of the fielder's shirt or pants!

So then the question posed is whether softball rules use the same wording, and even if they do, whether "use" is understood the same or a different way.
