Post Pitching Motion, 16U B's in tourney.

This just might be HTBT since I didn’t get a video. I'll do my best.

I just never was so confused about a delivery. I tried breaking it down but that just confused this old guy even further.

Pitching!!! Confused to start. We’re talking motion prior to pitching start, pitching motion, hands together and the pitch.

Pitcher takes a position on the plate, hands separated, ball down at her side in pitching hand, getting signals……all good.

She then begins the motion by taking the ball to her eye level in front of her body, backswings with ball to shoulder height on back swing, then ball swings forward again and she then takes ball to above eye level again in front of her again, both hands come together now for a “touch” then backswings with ball to shoulder height, pushes off and delivers the ball with another rotation for a normal looking delivery.

The appearance was strange. We had a lot of motion “before” the touch that was dipping her body down, coming back up, armswing that was kind of a roundhouse away from body with a lot of “flourish” in it but all before the actual start of pitch (glove-ball touch). There was never any stop in this entire delivery.

Does any of that early arm-swinging really count since everything after that initial swing looked like a normal delivery? How many times does the ball pass the hip? Normal delvery two? This was three? Just couldn't figure it out.

The pitch doesnt start until the hands have been brought together and separate.

+1`

Everything done is a red herring, completely immaterial how many times arm swing anywhere, including past the hip, UNTIL the "touch" and hands separate.

Sounds completely legal.

Smile

Ya know, that's what the gut told me. I'd never seen anything like this delivery before, with all the flourish and dramatic movement before the touch.

Everything looked very normal after the touch............some girls!!! Has to be done with a "lady's" style I guess.

Thanks

sounds familiar to me----

I think I've seen that in men's fast pitch when I did that years ago. A lot of arm motion before the hands come together that just looks like wasted energy to me. I agree, nothing illegal as far as I can determine.

Including one I saw recently of an overhand circle then joining hands at the hip, normal underhand windmill, release.

Or a high leg kick with stride foot, probably hard on batter but legal (except to 1st base coach )
