Furthermore, if a team is intimidated by its opponent's facepaint then its HC has bigger problems.

This is a rule in NFHS football. Many state have taken that rule and included it in other sports.

Normally you get the old fuddy-duddy award, but I'll take it this time. The paint serves no purpose except under the eyes and I think it's a perfectly reasonable rule / expectation.
