on hanging them up
I'm retiring from umpiring for good. Health issues play a bit part in my decision, but to be honest I'm just not having fun anymore. I knew the day would come and I have decided that it has. I began my journey in 1957 umpiring fraternity intramural softball games in college. The next summer I did Babe Ruth baseball when my brother who was playing told me they needed umpires. From there I did high school, JUCO, college baseball, ASA fast pitch (men's and women's), Slo pitch (men's and women's), Modified pitch, senior ball, pretty much did it all including calling the plate for the King and His Court back in the day. It's been a great ride. Great memories for sure. Just remember to keep everything in front of you and have fun. OUT

SWFL, while I've never met you, I'm sure we would have gotten along splendidly. Thank you for your service, and I hope we see you on the board from time to time.
