Soccer time in the South

I hope we can get some soccer posts going. Seems to be a dead area. My pre-season begins on Saturday. Gonna be cool but am ready to get out of the basketball gym, put on the referee shorts and do some major running. Soccer season is the longest and includes the most games that I officiate, Feb thru Nov. Anybody else looking forward to getting on the pitch?

I am ready too. My first pre-season game is the 19th. Two inner city Nashville schools who rarely have any good soccer players just good athletes who want to run and hit each other. Fun, Fun, Fun.

Yep, if it wasn't for soccer, I wouldn't have that nice "Farmer's Tan" come May.
High School girls starts in 2 weeks around here.
USSF/Club pre-season tourneys already started this week, but because of a full basketball schedule (including next two weekends) will not be doing any soccer until the HS girl's start.

Still rather cold in the Buckeye State (although it will be warm for US/Mexico). My first games outdoor won't likely be until early April when the Midwest Regional League season starts. Plenty of Mid-March preseason stuff. All Club since HS is in the Fall.

Lots of B-Ball to go including many, many tournaments.

It seems to me that most of the club and competitive USSF sanctioned soccer is played in the fall season. Is that an accurate assessment or does it depend upon the area?

In Ohio, State Cup is played in the Spring (Regionals in the early Summer). U-15s and up play Club in the Spring only in Ohio. The HS season runs in the Fall and you cannot play OHSAA and non-OHSAA in the same season.

In TN we have a split club season. Since HS has Girls in the fall and Boys in the spring the u14->u18 club season is just the opposite, Boys in the fall and Girls in the spring.

That's the way it is in my area as well. It seems that we have similar issues with weather.

My first HS girls games begin in about 5 weeks. I have a full schedule. Some really great games and a couple I don't now why they even bother to schedule. They will be one sided massacres.
I sure hope that it is warmer and drier this spring than last. I froze nearly all season and it was wet most of the time. I am going to try the full leg compression gear this spring on cold days. With the knee braces and socks the ony thing that will look different is the little hole in the middle of the knee braces.
