Arguing balls and strikes
I've tried to search past posts for this, to no avail, so I'll just ask. I apologize if you have recently discussed this.
I know that arguing balls and strikes is a big no-no, and any manager that...

More check swing questions....
A couple months ago we discussed this sitch (I will boil it down here to save digging)...
R1 stealing with two outs and two strikes, batter check swings, F2 retires runner, then the defense appeals...

Are we having fun yet....
When I first posted on this board, I mentioned that my knees were the reason I had to get out of umpiring, but that was only a half-truth. I used my knees as the final excuse (they are in pretty bad...

How about...
A slight tweak on the OP....

Clearing equipment at the plate..
Just curious......What is your opinion about clearing away equipment (bat, catcher's mask) when there is a potential play at the plate? Is it the on-deck batter's job? Does the level of play and age...

Is there a call to be made here?
This happened quite a few years ago in a college game...
R2 trying to score on a single. As he is approaching and rounding 3B, imagine F2, in front of the plate, mask discarded, knees bent, hands in...

Watching runners away from the ball.
This happened a few years ago. 16-18 yr old regional tournament, OBR, four-man crew (I'm at 2nd). Runner at 1st base off with the pitch, batter grounds to F6. I position myself for a play at 2B. F6...

Can checked swing be a 'fourth out' appeal?
Long-time reader, first-time poster (a lurker, I suppose). I thoroughly enjoy the forum and the banter, and have learned quite a bit (bad knees have put the kibosh on my umpiring for the last few...
