the question really becomes whether you are going to say it wasn't a try after it goes in the basket, or are you going to assume it...

Are you sure about the NBA line staying the same? I thought I remembered it being pushed in a bit, maybe in the late 80's, in the hope that making it a more makeable shot it would unpack the inside...

The other way, though unlikely, is a bounce pass with too much spin. Most likely on a pass going mostly sideways near the division line.

Don't recall if it was the NBC folk or Chick Hearn (the Laker's announcer) who recently explained that the visiting coach gets to choose which end for which half -- probably a rule to prevent home...

I thought that the new NCAA rule kept two shots for unsportsmanlike T's, but went to a single free throw only for "technical" T's -- excess TO, book errors, etc. Am I wrong on that?
