It's not about proving who has the biggest...ego, it's about managing a particuler sideline, in a particular game and the one person with that responsibility made a judgment (regardless of what a sportswriter felt would make a great opportunity to blow air up under some skirts).

There should be absolutely no doubt exactly how big the stick we all carry actually is, the only question is under what circumstances WE CHOOSE to smack someone with it.

Flagging, disqualifying or otherwise embarrassing Hayden, aside from creating a couple of weeks of follow-up articles and punishing a team for an emotional outburst of a non-player, seems to accomplish little, if anything.

As for what influence this situation may, or may not have on any Administrative, or other non-player, personnel at other games at different levels, the FACT remains, we each carry the same BIG STICK and maintain the sole authority, as well as responsibility, to decide WHEN and WHERE, and perhaps most importantly WHETHER the unique situation we're dealing with requires USING IT

He got a reprimand and $25K fine, announced this afternoon.

I dare say he'll pull that trick again. Sarkesian was on The Herd and admitted he screwed up but gave the same ole "fightin' fur muh kids" BS we hear out of most coaches when they try to explain 4 year old behavior.

The targeting foul happened after the UNS. The thing that started this was a DOG/sideline interference (assume for being in the white) during a FG on the end of the field. I'm guessing the H had talked about this previously and done the required warnings. The UNS happened before the kick between the HC and the S. The targeting foul was on the subsequent kick return.

Was the fine for talking to the officials or for the text message he claimed he received from the sideline asking him to come down? Supposedly, the text message was against NCAA (administrative?) rules, but there is no penalty.

The POE on the manual this year and Reddings notes mention we want those sidelines cleaned up...we ve let them out of the cages too far for too long, they aren't just going to get back there.

After the fact I realized that it was definitely probable that the officials on a conference staff would know the AD's in the conference.

Sidebar question: we know the playoff committee picks the final 4 teams but does anyone know how the officials will be assigned for the playoffs?
