New or modified 10.4.2 Situation E poses B committing an illegal participation or live-ball illegal substitution foul during A's successful field-goal play. It then advises that the foul "if accepted . . . is administered from the previous spot. A might turn down the field goal and replay the down after the penalty enforcement." Thus, A's option is to decline to keep the 3 points or accept, take points off board, and replay down.
But doesn't A have the option of "accepting the result of the play and enforcement of the penalty from the succeeding spot" under new rules 8-4-3b and 10-5-1e? Is Casebook wrong or am I missing something? |

they can accept the points and have the foul marked off on the succeeding spot. The rule is a "foul by the opponent of the scoring team". I have not seen any exceptions to this as far as type of foul. So they get the choice.

I don't work under NF rules, but I do have this question. Is the basic spot for the type foul in question the previous spot by rule? If so, then there is no option to take the points and enforce from succeeding spot.
Since I don't know your rules, I can only ask the question. Under NCAA rules, illegal participation is a previous spot enforcement situation only. |
