Making the move....NFHS to NCAA

I just found out that I was accepted to our local college association, so I should be getting a few JUCO/JV Div III games next year (hopefully).

I will be attending our local groups rules review sessions, and of course all the standard meetings and such.

Anyone have any pointers for coming up to speed on the NCAA rules? Or any other pieces of advice making the move to D3 college? And hopefully beyond...

Applied as an umpire, but apparently they have plenty of those, so it looks like the first year will mostly be at HL/LJ.

No advice or assistance, just a well deserved Congrats!

I hope you come back and let us know how it goes, differences, similarities, lessons learned, etc.

Good for you and good luck next season!!

Most importantly remember defensive offsides is live ball as is kicking tries, kicks into the endzone that don't strike the ground. Mechanically, you have three guys deep to handle deep passes, you hold the line for LJ and float 5 for HL, but you still have every spot to the 2 yard line. Learn reverse mechanics on punts and turnovers.

I learned from this book when working both:
