Calling all "old timers"...
Today at lunch, I was watching the 1969 Michigan v. Ohio State game on Big 10 network.
While it was interesting watching the crew, I found I was more interested in the uniforms the crew were donning. I know about the red flags and stirrups, but what about the bands of material around their biceps? I did not see one on the R, but the others each had a different color. Any takers??? Thanks tro |

We talked about that around the first of the year, I think. I think they had something to do with substitutes having to actually "report in" to the official with the appropriate color armband. ESPN Classic ran a Rose Bowl from that period a while back and those armbands were the source of discussion here.

That is a great picture. I had forgotten about wearing hip pads like those. Smoking in the locker room after games. Brings back memories.
