bigjohn, are you picking nits? The umpire is charged with ruling on legality of equipment before the game. Equipment can become illegal during or as a result of playing the game, right? CT1 is correct when saying ANY official can make this call, in other words, point it out to the head coach, and make it his problem.

I got to be honest, the mouth piece issue is not on my top five issues to detect during a game. It would be a but further down if you get my meaning, but ignored, never.
