Rule 2 nearly always answer questions like this - always look there first.

Kicks end, as in 2-23-2: A kick ends when a player gains possession or when the ball becomes dead while not in player possession.

This is also addressed in Football Fundamentals - a must read every season, and several times a season:
IV-1: A kick always ends as soon as any player secures possession.

Also, try to get in the habit of using proper terminology. A kick ends, but it doesn't necessarily become dead. The proper answer to your question of "When is a scrimmage kick officially dead," is not included in your choices. It is covered in Fundamental IV-5: "Any scrimmage kick which is not a scoring attempt becomes dead when it breaks the plane of R's goal line."
