Do you think it was enough - only 30,000? He's appealing, which probably means it will get knocked down to 15.

If you're swinging and hit anyone, whether it's the person you intended to or not, you deserve whatever penalty they smack ya with.

Sounds good to me, he should have been ejected but according to Pereria the Linesmen could not see if it was a fist or a helmet that knocked over Butch, the officials had a discussion but were not going to eject him since they weren't sure.

Does the NFL not allow video replays to allow the officials to determine the participants in a fight?

$30K does not seem an unreasonable fine of an NFL player who throws a punch and hits an official, even if the official wasn't his target.

The one that gets me is the other player mentioned in the article, who intentionally delivered a forearm to the ribs of an official. In my book, that's not only a bigger fine, that's at least a two-game suspension. But of course, I'm not in charge of the NFL.
