Is there any rule in the rulebook that prevents a player from changing jersey numbers during a game depending on if he is lining up as an offensive lineman, or lining up as an end/back on offense?
I can't find anything that prevents this, but it just seems illegal in my mind. Thanks! |

LEGAL
It's legal unless the player was ejected and trying to pull
a fast one, then illegal participation. You can have two people with the same number, too. They cannot participate at the same time though. For games below the varsity level, you would probably ignore the duplication of numbers. |

Re: Canadian Ruling
I don't know about your rules, but in our rules jersey numbers aren't regulated by numbers. So I don't see the point in a player doing this.
If he's playing at an ineligible position while wearing an eligible number, he simply has to report to the referee at the beginning of each series. No need for him to change his jersey.

Yes it is legal. In fact we had a school that did this. They had a D-lineman who wore an eligible number as his normal number. He would occasionally play o-line and they had velcro on the uniform and he would velcro an ineligible number on to play that side of the ball.
