I don't know about your rules, but in our rules jersey numbers aren't regulated by numbers. So I don't see the point in a player doing this.
If he's playing at an ineligible position while wearing an eligible number, he simply has to report to the referee at the beginning of each series.
No need for him to change his jersey.
