Cowbyfan1,
You need to go back and read the posts carefully. Nowhere did I refute the rulings given. I only mentioned there were errors in the books and that the corrections were available on the NF website. Patton answered both of yankeefan's questions accurately. dh898 chimed back in and mentioned that the loss of down penaly was not printed in his rule book and therefore questioned the ruling. (dh898 can be commended for using all the books available and questioned the ruling based on the printed material) Warrenkicker supported Pattons ruling as did others such as BayouUmp, wisref2, and MJT who added additional rules support for 1st down. Tex, kd5 and I replied to the portion of dh898's post referring to loss of down not printed in the book. We all mentioned that loss of down should have been printed in the rule book in penalty summary but was inadvertantly omitted. But we also provided support for our position that a correction was posted per NF and that and other corrections could be found on the NF website. As for your suggestion that I read MY rules book more often you should go back and read many of my posts. Yes, they are sometimes lengthy because they are full of rules citations to support what I am saying. I have been officiating football for 25 years but my ego is not such that I am offended if someone questions what I write. When ego gets in the way of correct application of the rules it is time to quit. That is why I enjoy this forum so much. I enjoy having great discussions but, at the end of such if I am convinced the other point of view is correct I gladly accept it. I learn something every year. Why? because I study my rules daily. Not the first time, huh? Of course you don't mention which of my posts were inaccurate? Is it because you can not come up with one? So far no one else on the football forum has questioned any post I have made. Yours is the first one and yet you say I have been wrong multiple times. Anytime you believe I have stated something incorrectly on this forum bring it to my attention. If I have done it inadvertantly, I will make the correction. If I was just plain wrong I will admit my mistake for all the world to see. |
