maybe i missed it, but wasn't the helmet contact in or behind the NZ and therefore ignored, black's ball 1/10??

if not then the other posts are correct K can recover and not advance a muff/touch(however you wish to phrase it).

From the original post.....The football goes straight up in the air and about 10 yards down field. As the ball is on its way down it hits a player on the black team on the top of the helmet and shoots down field even more about 15 yards more.

By this, the touch (I incorrectly said muff before) occurred about 10 yards beyond the LOS. K can recover but cannot advance.

Touching by R in or behind the NZ is ignored. Touching by R beyond the NZ will result in a first down for whoever possesses the ball when the down ends. K can advance if they recover or catch behind the NZ. K can recover beyond the NZ but not advance. K can catch the ball beyond the NZ if no R player is in position to catch. Touching or catching by K of a ball in flight beyond the NZ is KCI if there's an R in the vicinity. What am I forgetting?
