Question

I'm trying to find somewhere that I can buy some of the long and skinny beanbags. They're like 1.5" x 6" or so. If that doesn't make sense then look on the cover of the October '04 Referee mag, the U has one But I'm looking for white ones... I don't think Honigs has them. Someone on my crew has one, he thought he got it from Honigs a while back, but I sure don't see it on their site.

Anyone know? Thanks

If you know anyone that sews, they're real easy to make.
My wife makes them out of old knickers. Just cut them to length desired and fill with a little bit of white aquarium gravel and sew it up - works great.

What works for weights-aquarium gravel, bb's, and steel shots (yeah, like the kind you can load into a shotgun shell). I heard someone used actual pinto beans in their bag.

Thanks. But that's not the bag i'm referring to.

They're a little bit longer than the one pictured, about as wide as the narrow vinyl strip on there. Rectangle and all filled w/ beans.

I wouldn't use pinto baens or rice. Get it wet and it would swell up.

Back in the day, my grandmother used to make my uncle his beanbags (not throw down markers, but for touch football they are used instead of yardsticks) She used real beans, about a week after a few rain games, she noticed this really wierd smell coming from his bag, she traced it down to the bean bags, and found a few bean plants in them. The next time she made them, she used aquarium graval. Doesn't really help that much, but it's a funny story.

I use a Cliff Keen bean bag, and it too swells up when wet, even on a humid day, it starts to swell, it's a pain in the ass, next time I make a trip down to Honigs, I'm getting a sand filled bag.

I noticed that most of the NFL officials have bean bags like that, and I too would like to know where to find them, as the one i'm using right now has very little space between the two sections that have the "beans" in them, and I feel that my bag is too wide.

Good advice to not use any seeds like beans or rice but I also wouldn't use steel either. Steel has a funny reaction with water and air called rust. Your bag may turn a funny shade of red after a while with anything steel in it.
