Wow! I don't think I can sum up the totally crazy night last night, I'll attach the article, but basically it was a long game (start 7pm end 11:40 pm)with lightening delay, multiple timing delays because the timer Lost his sight in the middle of the game or something. We had different people in different positions (someone missing), and 1 guy who got married last week 4,000 miles away. Add in a big county rivalry, a lot of close calls, a dredded Inadvertant whistle, and the constant possibility that White Castle would be the only place open after the game, and you have one crazy night!
All for 50 bucks!

The Plainfield High School football team was seemingly in control on Friday night.

But a bizarre marathon game, marked by a 90-minute lightning delay, slipped through the Quakers’ hands.

The Bulldogs’ Mark Titus hooked up with Elgin DeJean for a 45-yard touchdown pass with 1:44 to go to lift Brownsburg to a 21-18 victory. A Brownsburg excessive celebration penalty made it a 35-yard extra-point try, but Seth Fair made it.

Plainfield had one more chance when a long kickoff return by Craig Ray put the ball on the Quakers’ 48. A Brownsburg interception killed the Quakers’ chances with eight seconds left.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 while Plainfield fell to 0-2.

Tyran Fakes caught a 97-yard touchdown pass with 7:55 left in the third quarter to give the Quakers a 16-7 lead. Fakes caught it at his own 30.

The Bulldogs closed the deficit to 16-14 with 7:43 left in the fourth quarter on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Titus to Kyle Waggoner.

On Brownsburg’s next possession, Plainfield’s Nick Riddle intercepted Titus on a third-and-21 play from their own 4. Riddle’s interception gave Plainfield the ball at the 5-yard line, but Plainfield went backward.

On fourth down from the 9, Brownsburg was called for pass interference, giving Plainfield first down at the 4-yard line. On fourth-and-3, a Quakers’ pass fell incomplete andt Brownsburg took over with 3:04 left. On first down, Titus was tackled for a safety, giving Plainfield an 18-14 lead.

Brownsburg recovered an on-side kick and eventually scored.

With 9:22 left in the second quarter, the game was delayed about 90 minutes when officials spotted lightning from the north.

When play resumed, Plainfield took a 9-7 lead when Jacob Hogue kicked a 35-yard field goal.

In the third quarter, a 55-yard punt return by the Bulldogs’ DeJean was nullified by a block in the back penalty. That gave the Bulldogs’ first down on their own 44. On third-and-7 from the Plainfield 42, the drive ended when Titus was intercepted at the 3. On the next play, Williams and Fakes hooked up for the 97-yard TD.
