Kudos to that crew - Tony Corrente and company.
I wish I knew who made that TD call with 0:00 on the clock. Was it Field Judge Craig Wrolstad or Side Judge Doug Toole. What year is that official in? It'd be cool if it was his first year. |

The bumblehead Vikes did themselves in again.
When the Cards scored with 1:54 remaining, I knew the Vikes were going to lose. And yes, it was the correct call, even though some idiot on McGriff is crying about it. |

I wish for some of those calls every now and again - the bread and butter calls.
Tony, did you have one of those "feelings" before the onside kick? Isn't it weird how those feelings arise? A call like that one might put you apart from another official if two are competing for one spot in a playoff assignment. |

After the review of the play, the Cardinals had to attemp a try. With no time on the clock and a one point lead, my question is why did they have to attempt a try? I think you're just asking for a cheap shot from the defense.

They have to attempt it because in the NFL it is possible for the defense to score on the offensive try, by returning a blocked kick, or an interception or something of that nature, so it really could have had an impact on the outcome of the game..

Viva, Las Vegas?!
The announcers said it was a rule requirement. Might have to do with point spread, fantasy football, playoff tie-breakers, seedings, or something else not directly related to THIS game, or even THIS season. Our high school rules provide for NOT playing the try when "the point(s) would not affect the outcome of the game or playoff qualifying. NFL rules may not have such an exception and are probably similar to college. The NCAA rule states that "the try is mandatory unless the team behind in the score leaves the field of play." The Vikings didn't leave. Just guessing ... [Edited by Middleman on Dec 30th, 2003 at 05:55 AM] |
