That must have looked like an unusual formation. After marking off 45 yards it should have been a 65 yard extra-point. Otherwise you didn't have a scrimmage-kick formation.

I was trying to figure out the yardage, too. Maybe the paper got it wrong, but it was definitely unusual.

I suggest you check with your association's Rules Interpreter, but I would find that to be unlikely.
