Holiday Tournament Observations

Are there any officials from the great state of Kentucky in the room? If so, my heart goes out to you! Over the last 2 years, I have had 7 teams from KY during various holiday tournaments and they have been the absolute worst in regards to coaching/player/fan behavior. I wouldn't want to be a full time official in that state for anything!

Those of you in Tennessee on the other hand seem to have it licked!

Had to toss one coach from KY, wouldn't leave the gym because according to him, we couldn't do anything since he wasn't from our state. He then followed me into the hospitality room to tell me how horrible my partners were. Another team from that lovely state received 2 Ts and 2 IFs in the same game and to round it up, in the girls championship of a third tourney, we called the game with 38 seconds remaining once the young lady from KY decided to throw jabs! It was quite the week!

I would go to the KHSAA website, find an email for the state BB coordinator, politely and briefly state what you observed, and request a KHSAA ejection form to fill out.

I'll bet he/she will give you one and be interested in what you have to say.

Why? Afraid the teams won't come back next year? That would be a good thing for the officials, sounds like.

I don't think that was the case...we worked over 400 holiday tournament games as an assoc in one week. The tournaments here have waiting lists for teams to get in...I just don't think he wanted to bother with it honestly.

Something that should be bothered with, though. Perhaps the other state would tell the school to stay home for a year or two until they learned how to act.

I hate this attitude. Crappy attitude needs to be addressed not ignored.

Just my opinion but I'd do it anyway. It's not like your coordinator has to sign it or anything, and it's equally as unlikely that the KHSAA POC would call your coordinator to ask if he said it was ok for you to send it.

If nothing else, maybe an anonymous letter?
