Also check your bag to make sure it is stocked with the essentials (don't forget Bactine and Band-Aids).
This got me thinking. What do you consider the "essentials" to have in your bag?

One of the things that I've learned the hard way to have in my bag is a little sewing kit.

Having to work the first half with the back seam of my trousers held together with staples and paper clips while the Athletic Director went looking through teacher's desks for a sewing kit. Pretty embarassing lesson to learn, but now there's needle, black thread, and safety pins everywhere I go.

I also keep an extra pair of black shoe laces in my shoe bag -- just in case.

Can you provide more info on it?

Last year I was up to 6 Advils for some two game sets. A pain patch may be a better way to go.

Icy Hot, Deep Heat both have a pain patch that adheres to your back. Also they have prescription pain patches that have novicaine in them to numb the area. If you sweat alot you may want to put extra tape on it. This stuff works like a gem.

Also something else that works is "Blue Stuff".

Talking

I go dressed ready for the game. That way I usually don't forget anything - lesson learnt the hard way ... numerous times.

Also have numerous whistles, lanyards, 2 rule books (one that is taken out when WE are looking rules up, the other just in case), strapping tape, anti-inflammatories, toiletries, towel and a change of clothes.

Invariably I still forget something, usually spare jocks.

I never travel dressed to call a game. I don't think it is very professioinal for one. I am usually coming directly from work for another.

After I wrote my answer last night, I went up and looked in my bag, and the two things I forgot, you guys mentioned: sewing kit, and pre-game board. I also carry water in the car, and advil.

extra shoelaces--black of course
copy of schedule
Safety pins

I have used every one of these things at one time or another.
