Official Camp One-Liners Thread

I'll start. Add as needed (past or present).

Three campers wait in a corner watching a game. Two (A & B) are 5' 10"ish; one (C) is about 6'4". The ball sails out of bounds, hitting C in the forehead.

Says B to C, "Sucks to be tall now, doesn't it?"

---

Four campers are chatting. An instructor interrupts the conversation for a pop quiz, looking one camper in the eye.

Instructor: "What's the one most important thing you've been to work on?"
Camper: "One? Uh.... well, I have three things in mind I'm working on."
Instructor: "I didn't think you were that bad, but go ahead."

That's a really odd camp one liner? Criticism of a game report for a flagrant technical foul?

From Back in 2008 or so...

Coach: "We paid $200 to be here and this is the kind of officiating we get???"

Me: "I paid and $275 to be here and..." (didn't finish the sentence, but he got the message and shut up)

Not a one-liner but I was present when a young college guy bet a Final Four official 20 bucks on a rule question and won. Unfortunately he tried to press his luck with a double or nothing and lost.

Edit: Actually I do have a one-liner. I asked a D1 college guy at my first ever camp what his worst call was. He replied "that's a kindergarten question". Needless to say I now keep my mouth shut.

First thought: That guy sounds like a jerk.

All depends on the context and situation of the question, and the level of camp.

To me, that's a question better suited during an informal conversation outside the teaching environment, and involving adult beverages.

Camp Director got me last night

As I was thanking the Camp Director last night before leaving he looked up at me and says to the two other supervisors sitting with him, "This guy can't referee at all....but at least he wears a great shirt."

I happened to be wearing a shirt from a previous year of the same camp.

and your response should have been: "and THIS GUY can't run a camp at all, but at least he hands out great shirts".

Agree with the jerk comment. I would say more than half D1 officials that I have heard asked that question answered with "traveling".
