Running the baseline
Something happened in the Clippers/Warriors series I never saw before. A player ran the baseline on a throw-in at the beginning of a quarter. Is that legal?

The throw-in to begin the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter is an unrestricted throw-in

NBA Rule Book (2013-2014)
Rule 10, Section III-Thrower-in

EXCEPTION: After a field goal or free throw as a result of a personal foul or the start of a period, the thrower-in may run the end line or pass to a teammate behind the end line.

Did you mean to post in the baseball forum about a game between the Dodgers and the A's?

The NBA rule book uses end line and baseline interchangeably.

Just because someone hired by the entertainment league office is sloppy with terminology doesn't mean that we should be.

Normally, I would agree with using specific terminology. But, "base" or "baseline" is also used in the context of geometry to describe the bottom side of a rectangle...which the court is.

And even without using geometric terminology, the difference between endline and baseline is a distinction without a difference. That is quite unlike the other terminology issues such as "reach", "over the back", "set", etc....each of which imply things different and contrary to the actual rules.

Baseline/Endline, who cares.
