What a Week!
I tell you, it must be something with the month of January or maybe it's just me.
![]() Play: I'm Center on a 1-1 free throw. Before the ball is bounced to the player I take my whistle out of my mouth and tell the shooter to step in. As the ball is bounced he moves his right foot slightly, but keeps his left foot on the three point line/free throw semicircle line (he's too far back). Right before the shooter catches the ball the Trail comes in and blows his whistle. Him being a veteran I assume he was going to restart the process, but as I close in on the shooter he says "violation, white ball". So we go with it. The play was called in by the violating team's coach and looking at it on tape it has driven me crazy. Even being the new guy in the NCAA crew, I should have stepped in sooner or at least gathered with my partner and started the process over. Any thoughts? |

Isn't it a 'T' for a player to be outside the defined area for a Free Throw when the ball is at their disposal?
![]() The rule is different if it is a Resumption of Play proceedure. |
