A crying baby in our changing room
I had a JV-G game Friday night in a new school (about 3-4 years old) with about as nice of a facility you'll find in this area. The officials change in the AD's office, with a nice, roomy bathroom/shower adjacent. (Just don't put your clothes on the sink... automatic sensors...learned that one the hard way.)
I stayed to watch the varsity game, as usual. Time out, third quarter, I went into the office to grab my bag. I distinctly heard a baby crying. I noticed the two bassinets earlier, and just assumed they were for the AD's kids. Nope, there was crying coming from the bassinet, and upon inspection, it was an electronic cry coming from an electronic baby (class project). I grabbed my bag, went out, and told the employee on the end line about the baby. He chuckled, walked behind the home bench, and whispered to #15. She grinned and jogged into the office. She was back out in 30 seconds. The AD was a little less amused: "She told me that thing was set to cry at 9:00!" (It was 8:00.) Who wants to write the case play for this one?

Just add it to the electronic device rule.
I've had to stop a 18U ASA softball game twice in the last two years so the pitcher could go attend to her (live) screaming infant on the bench. |

My brother took that class when he was in high school. Worst weekend of his life. It was either take the baby for a weekend or write a 4 page report. He chose the baby. I think he regrets that.
