Heat-Bulls video request

With about 35 seconds to go in the 4th quarter last night, the Bulls' Nate Robinson threw up a teardrop shot towards the hoop. Lebron James jumped up to potentially block the shot, but instead grabbed the rim with both hands, and was still grasping the rim as the ball swished in. I'm just curious to know if this was a high school or college game, if this would have resulted in a technical foul. Also, would the basket have counted in NFHS or NCAA if a technical is indeed enforced? This play ended with 30.2 seconds remaining on the game clock.

Without seeing the play, it would be hard to say whether it should or should not be a T in an NCAA or NFHS game.

It would be basket interference in both, regardless of whether a T is called, but it wouldn't really matter since the ball went in anyway.

I could see a T being called here. There's no one underneath him or near enough to warrant a safety exception, IMO.

As Camron noted, the points would count. Even if it wasn't BI, this is a foul that occurs while a try is in flight, so the basket would count.

I'm OK with no T. The hang wasn't a showboating style and didn't give him any advantage. It it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to expect someone to be under him.

It's still BI, in any case.

In NCAA-Men's Lebron would be shooting free throws. Nate Robinson popped him in the face with his off arm.
