Interesting.

It's not so obvious to me. I wish Bad Zebra could share the frame by frame replay. I stopped the clip and #12 clearly contacts the ball first. Can't tell if she gets the arm after that but I'll take BZ's word that there was a foul.

But I think it's still important to referee your primary and the L should not have had a whistle on this. It looks like the L reported the foul who on the player who did NOT commit what you call the obvious foul and since it's right in front of the C and the L is 40 feet away, she should have deferred to to the C to report since the play was right in front of her.

Sometimes you can be right and still be wrong.

We ALL use that mechanic here in FL. Well, maybe THAT GUY doesn't.

Interesting.

Absolutely I'm criticizing an official for calling a foul a very long distance outside of their PCA on a play that happened right in front of another official and the on-ball official had a whistle. And the foul wasn't OBVIOUS. Actually the only contact I saw was from the defender from behind which the Lead had no way of seeing.

+1000 She never gave C a chance to grab it. It certainly wasn't obvious to me.

Plus you would think she'd give C the call on double whistle. Still maintain time may have expired.

I'm not giving much credibility if state final officials don't realize game is over after winning free throw.

It's funny -- I quit using that mechanic about 2 years ago. Haven't used it since.

But what if C decided to pass on marginal contact and let the game to into another period? The L would have been putting the entire crew into a horrible position and the integrity of the crew has diminished. This is probably not a 2-whistle play unless the shooter absolutely gets crushed and C has a brain freeze, then that would need to become a crew call.

TRUST YOUR PARTNERS........especially in a game of this magnitude. You would like to think that each official has gotten there by their merits.

I agree...there were two officials in better position to get that. No way the lead, from the endline, should be calling that type of foul at the division line.

Agreed again and not trying to pile on, it may have been a good call, but certainly not by new lead.

I just quit midseason here. I'll probably use it for YMCA stuff, but I figure all that gets settled during warm ups. If they're warming up wrong, I fix it and we move on.
