I'm with you. It's not a try so it had to either remain in the basket or pass through it before the period ended.

No points scored. It's not a try, so the ball is dead as soon as the buzzer sounds/light goes on. The ball had yet to enter the basket, so it's nothing.

I think the new T (old L) thinks it shouldn't count.

Agreed it is not a try, but what was that first buzzer?

Shot clock.

I see 0 ( ZERO) Hear the horn before the shot, I know that the LEDs are late, not my problem, no shot.

In a way it's too bad the rules say it shouldn't count. Stupidity should have a price.

We don't have that in my area and at my level. Never think to look for that. :o

That horn you hear is for the shot clock (of which I'm surprised there aren't any lights for this as well...). The lights for the end of the period aren't late. And for that matter, lights ARE your problem because if you have lights in an NFHS game, it takes precedent for end of period versus the horn.

The shot clock went to zero and a horn for its expiry sounded. The game clock is not visible in the video.

Then the horn and LED went off for the end of the period. The ball had not entered the basket prior to the end of the period, so a dead ball passed through the basket. No points.

The shot clock isn't supposed to trigger the LEDs. That's part of the NCAA rule and since this happened on an NCAA court they're not hooked up that way.

Interesting...in the NBA, they have a single bar light on the backboard for the shot clock with all the lights coming on for the end of a period.

This play triggered a disappointing discussion for me locally. :(

I've noticed that (flashing lights are cool :D...) but when an NCAA game is played in an NBA arena that function has to be disabled.

No shock there. Did the light (ahem) eventually come on for those who haven't picked up a rule book in 20 years?
