In this situation, you're really "splitting hairs" either way you go:

A) Time Out; then dead ball contact T (2 shots + ball at mid-court)
B) FF1 prior to Time Out (2 shots + ball @ nearest spot)

Ultimately, it's really the same thing.....

No it's not the same, b/c one gives the player a Class A technical in addition to being charged with a personal foul.
