Not me. Not even a second thought. He changed directions, but it was fairly quick. Given these kids need to land, I'm giving every benefit of the doubt to the player.

We had a player hang on the rim last week after a missed dunk -- he really didn't have a lot going on around him, but he wanted to be sure he didn't land on someone -- he carefully looked around himself before simply dropping straight down. No showboating, change in elevation, or change in direction.

I was perfectly fine with this, as was my partner. The other coach, though, wasn't -- he ended up picking up a technical foul from my partner for his trouble. I think a good part of this came from the fact they were getting waxed at the time, though.

Closest thing to a T would be for taunting on his last dunk. Lot of jawing going on after the play.

Me.....probably not. It was very brief and nothing unusual for a basic dunk. It looked more like the result of letting go with one hand slightly before the other or not actually getting the rim frimly with both hands. Nothing wrong with that.

Check out 2:58, looks like someone included a player-control foul in a highlight reel!

Edit: Also check out 8:02, from the sound of the whistle I surmise he got a tech for that.

If we are looking at the same thing (Part 1 8:02) then the answer is no. He did not say or do anything. He just ran up the court.

Peace

You got nothing for hanging on the rim?

Nope. Didn't call anything when it happen and we even talked about it at halftime. That is why I asked as it was discussed by the crew. And if that is bad, then there better be a T for every dunk IMO.

I presume a hanging on the rim T should be pretty obvious? Like a kid doing a pull-up with no one underneath him?

It should, essentially, call itself. Don't be a plumber.

This means what?

That is fine but if you consider that a pull up, well it is obvious we see this play philosophically differently. I do not consider a pull up to be someone forcefully dunking the ball and not expect some level of swing or hang. The rule does not say all hanging on the rim in itself is illegal.

Don't go looking for s**t when it is not there.

In other words, if you call this there might be more questions than if you leave it alone. This looked like a rather common dunk that no one but those that do not see dunking very often would call IMO.

Peace

Call the clear and obvious...these type of calls will call themselves.
