6 players on the floor

I have been given 2 different opinions. I'd love to hear from a lot of you.

Time out. When the players return, I always count 5 and 5 and I am ready to play. I do. 5 and 5. As I get ready to hand the ball, I see a 6th girl behind a taller. I stop and tell the coach he has 6 players on the court.

Is that my job or do I put the ball in play and call the "T"?

I stop and send them back. May not be my job, but it's expected from those who make my schedules.

If the ball is not at the disposal of the thrower yet I would like to hear one good reason for not correcting the situation at that point in time.

I have never heard anyone opine that an official shouldn't get the sixth player off the court if possible. To do so otherwise is idiotic.

I had a partner tell me, it's not my job to count the players and if the coach sends out 6, I should make the ball live and call the "T".

I just wanted to see if anyone else would do the same. I prefer not to call "T"s if I don't have to.

Get one of them off the court and go on. If I knew there were six and called the T, I wouldn't be working anymore.
