I totally get the nostalgia thing, but good grief. It's very interesting that no one wants to comment on the OP, but would rather just remember the good ol' days with old Joey.
Here's the clip described in the OP. Crawford has surely had his days of glory, but he has turned into the proverbial 'crazy Uncle Joe'..... Joey Crawford going off!! - YouTube

I just think that it's a little out of control that he essentially made them redo a FT after a missed shot for a technical, yelled loudly at his partner to give him the G-Damn ball, and then readministered the FT himself from the C position. I have a ton of respect for the guy. He has accomplished things that I can only dream of and I'm not suggesting there be any sort of action taken against him. I'm just opining that he was certainly over the top and out of control in this situation. Quote:
But I was watching live and know for a fact that Paul shot and missed the first shot for the T. And since the NBA only awards one shot for a T then Crawford either issued a second T that most in the gym did not pick up on (possible) or he just did his own thing and made them re-shoot. Notice that even Chris Paul is looking at him like, "are you sure I get another shot here? Is it ok for me to shoot now, Joey?" |

Watching live it seemed as if JC had clearly reported the T to the table before the FT was administered. JC then seemed to be explaining something to the Wizards coach and doing what I can best describe as "his thing." I'm not sure if JC even saw the missed FT or thought it occurred too early or what happened. It seemed to me that he never even saw the first FT and that's why he did the motion with his fingers/hand like, "let's go." At the end of the day I guess it doesnt matter as the powers that be have apparently given JC free reign to do what he wants. Just thought it was interesting. And I would be a little pissed if one of my partners yelled at me to give them the G-Damn ball, gave me a stop sign, and administered a FT from the C. But I'd get over it pretty quickly if it was Joey C. |

As to the clip, without knowing what he was taking care of, I can't comment on whether or not they should have waved off the initial free throw. He did end up issuing a delay-of-game warning. The only thing I can comment on is he didn't have to administer the free throw...he could have left that to his partner.
