Dunk & Block/Charge

Watching ESPN last night and the top 10 plays involved a dunk and block/charge play that was virtually identical to a thread that recently closed involving a high school player that dunked on/over/through a secondary defender.

I am trying to research the clip, but if anyone else has access to ESPN's Top 10 for 1/9 (Minnesota v Illinois) and know the play I am referring to. Maybe someone could post both videos again for comparison? FOUND IT - 1st half with 16:33 left.

The play was Illinois player drove the middle of the lane and the secondary defender had established LGP outside the RA. It was an unbelievable dunk, and to the L's credit he called a charge on the play and waived off the basket. Ball is still in hand at the time of contact.

Maybe not everyone in Illinois is on the same page

Not smart enough to embed it, but here is a link. At first I thought he counted the basket based on his mechanic.

That is what I thought... the score at the bottom must've been slow to update.

The scored basket after the release occurs RARELY. The only time you really can have it is on a running teardrop type shot. The contact occurs before the release.

Same game--thoughts on double foul with 14:33 left in second half?

Doubt we will find a link to that play without clipping it from the film. Times like this that I hate Comcast for not providing access to Big 10 2 go.

I understand why the play was called. 2 opposing post players are standing straight with hands up over their heads.... kind of tangled and not releasing. Terry Wymer is a REALLY good official and I have no issue with the call for game management's sake.

John Groce didn't like it, but he has been nuts since Illinois stopped playing over their heads during conference play.

These guys on that game just aren't good enough to work in certain areas of Illinois.

PC while watching the video. No points. Contact was before any release.
