If the player wears long pants, who's going to check? By rule, I guess they still need to be above the knee ....

I guess that's true. Just can't recall the last time I saw someone wear long pants in an organized bball game. Out of sight, out of mind ...

I had a religious school once that had skirts, pants, head covers, etc.

Their BB wasn't that good, but they paid well. No flow or continuity to most of their games.

One game I blew the whistle so often it literally gave me a headache after the first qtr.

Religious reasons.

And, if long pants are worn instead of shorts, they are legal. If long pants are worn under the shorts, they are undergarments, and are illegal if they go below the shorts. If they're very long socks, they can legally go all the way up above the shorts. Also, there are no color limitations on long pants (if worn instead of shorts), undergarments below the waist (and above the shorts), and socks. Go figure?

Semi-related

Anyone seeing players wearing long sleeve compession shirts?

It's popped up one or two times for me. Just wondering if this is a trending item that they are trying to get away with?

I would think that compression undershirts are no different than regular undershirts ... long sleeves are allowed (at least in NFHS). Not exactly sure what they would be getting away with.

I'm seeing it more often. Perfectly legal as long as it meets the undershirt requirements.

Not sure what they're "getting away with" as it's legal. But, if you mean, trying to call attention to themselves by being different within the rules - then yeah, I agree.

Did a college game this season where a player had a long sleeve undershirt for medical reasons and a letter signed by Art Hyland authorizing it.

Once worked a homeschooled team that wore long pants. They put up over 100 points.
