Compression Shorts

3.5.7. Compression shorts/tights shall be a single solid color similar to the predominant color of the pants/skirt; the length shall be above the knee.
Undergarments shall not extend below the pants/skirt.
What is the difference between compression shorts/tights and undergarments?
Can tights extend below the pants if they stop short of the knee?

Compression shorts/tights and undergarments are the same thing. They cannot extend below the shorts.

In NFHS, tights are not allowed.

What is the purpose of having a logo requirement on an item that essentially won't be seen?

If the player wears long pants, who's going to check? By rule, I guess they still need to be above the knee ....

I guess that's true. Just can't recall the last time I saw someone wear long pants in an organized bball game. Out of sight, out of mind ...

I had a religious school once that had skirts, pants, head covers, etc.

Their BB wasn't that good, but they paid well. No flow or continuity to most of their games.

One game I blew the whistle so often it literally gave me a headache after the first qtr. :(

Religious reasons.

And, if long pants are worn instead of shorts, they are legal. If long pants are worn under the shorts, they are undergarments, and are illegal if they go below the shorts. If they're very long socks, they can legally go all the way up above the shorts. Also, there are no color limitations on long pants (if worn instead of shorts), undergarments below the waist (and above the shorts), and socks. Go figure?

You sure? Compression shorts can extend below the shorts, but may not extend below the knee. There is also a color restriction on compression shorts that does not apply to undergarments worn below the waist and above the shorts.

Semi-related

Anyone seeing players wearing long sleeve compession shirts?

It's popped up one or two times for me. Just wondering if this is a trending item that they are trying to get away with?

Which brings up a good point...how the he!! are we supposed to differentiate between compression shorts and undergarments being worn below the waist? Anybody working girls games want to take on that discussion? What, exactly, constitutes an undergarment?
