Everyone-
I work for a small private school in a league of all private schools. Our kids are taught from the first day they enter the program to thank the refs either pre or post game (depending on team). In fact refs at one of the tournaments we sent the JV girls team to were given compliments on their sportsmanship which made our AD very happy.

justanotherref-our school is one of those schools where the coaches thank the refs on their way out.

we actually started doing this (players thanking the refs) a couple of years ago-as a golfer I remembered our coach (who is the AD and a former boys basketball coach) making us thank the starters at every course we got to play for allowing us to play.I took the same principle over to basketball thinking even though these guys/gals are getting paid we need to thank them for their time and service. The coaches loved it and its stuck as a staple of being in our program ever since.

My jacket is in the lockerroom for the 2nd half and I'm not going anywhere near the table unless they flag us down for a problem. Straight to the lockerroom on the horn.
Ditto in my area.

That is great that they want to do that, but I would be gone before they even had a chance. Not something I want to do or feel like we should do as your team might be OK, but other teams or fans are mad about something. I do not want to be there to have issues. And even if I knew your team wanted to do this, I would still not be there to find out.

Peace
