Has either side in the debate referenced the rules book?

The rule book is very clear about the restrictions placed on the shooter. 9-1-3 (e).

9-1-3e
I did reference this rule to my partner and said that is would be a violation on the free-thrower. He still seems to think that the foot would need to be on the floor past boundry line as in out of bounds. Just trying to get others opinion to show him the error of his ways

When does your partner think a violation occurs when we call a delay of game warning during a throw-in on the defense for breaking the plane?

The exact rule was referenced and even posted for you to read it.

Are you serioulsy asking this question? There are bigger fish to fry during a game than this play. |

I agree there's a difference between the literal reading of the rule and how it is usually called. He seemed to be asking about the former (and you need to know the former to understand the latter, and when it should be called.)

So, we should pick and choose the rules we want to enforce. The rules are there for a reason, while I will agree we don't enforce every rule on eveer play, we do rule on ADVANTAGE/DISADVANTAGE and if the shooter gets a rebound because he crossed the vertical plane before the ball hit the rim, you've got to call that the same as you would if someone beyond the 3 point arch broke the plane before the ball hit the rim.
