Free Throw

Are there any rules that limit the Free Throw attempt for a player Technical foul to only one of the 5 players on the Court?
Partner spoke those words in yesterdays Summer League game.

Which rule set are you referring to? And did you check it out yourself yet?

We are using High School (Federation) Rules.
Rule 8-3
SECTION 3 ATTEMPTING TECHNICAL-FOUL FREE THROWS
The free throws awarded because of a technical foul may be attempted by any
player of the offended team, including an eligible substitute or designated starter.
The coach or captain shall designate the free thrower(s).

That has always been my understanding.
Is NBA, NCAA-men, NCAA-Women or FIFA different???

NBA: Only one of the five players on the court, at the time of the technical, is eligible to shoot those FTs.

NCAA: Any eligible player or team member of the offended team may shoot the FTs but must shoot both of them (unlike NFHS).

Don't know the NBA rule though I'm confident that it has to be shot by someone already on the court.

NCAA and NFHS do have a difference in regards to who can shoot technical free throws, however the restriction you asked about is not in either rule set.

And I thought it was just the coaches

Sometimes the officials watch too much tv as well.

Tick, Tock ...

Reminder: NFHS: Must sit a tick, don’t have to play a tick (when five other eligible players are available).

FIBA: The free throw for a technical foul is taken from 15 meters.

FIFA: The free throw for a technical foul is taken from 15 meters and you have to kick the ball into the basket.

Those FT percentages must be really low.

OK. How about 15 centimeters? Millimeters? Liters?
