Laying on the ground

I am seeing so many players at all levels now laying on the ground like they're nearly dead for several minutes only to see them "miraculously" get up and are completely able to continue playing. Is there any rule addressing this?

What...like after a foul? No, there's no rule, and I've never heard anyone make issue of it. If a player is on the ground that long, then (under NF/NCAA rules), the trainer/coach will be beckoned onto the court and that player will have to be replaced (assuming the coach doesn't "buy" him back into the game).

Well then no...there's no rule specifically addressing that. Heck, I don't even see that as an issue. 98 percent of the time, the player will be up and ready to shoot free throws by the time the foul is reported, officials are in position, and everyone's lined up. At worst, you'll see a couple second delay in my experience.

I think that we can avoid the player from lying on the ground is by asking right away if he needs a trainer or coach (depending on level.) All players know they need to come out if that happens, and if they don't they will now. If it is a hard foul or fall, I would give them the benefit of shaking it off.

I've had players lying on the ground during football games that I work but NEVER lying on the ground in a basketball game.

The berserk one is right. I've never had an issue, but one of two questions always solves it. "Are you ok?" or "Can you play?"
