Yep, I think Ed is around 6'9". Saw him at an NBDL game several years ago.

I'm 6' 5"/245lbs. I'm trying to get down to 235 and stay there. Back in 2006 I ballooned up to 280lbs in the off-season.
There is a referee in Northern VA who works some college ball who is 7'; and he's a chef. He and I have friends in common but I don't really know him personally. I'm sure grune, justacoach, and multisport could fill you in about him.

6'5. I do think that sometimes due to height I can get a look at something that maybe a shorter official doesn't get. Not that they can't get a look, it's just a different angle with the added height. Also I can cover a good deal of ground with a normal stride where sometimes a shorter official might have to jog.

I contend I'm more aerodynamic than the lot of you!

That too...helps cut down on wind resistance. I'm almost never beat to the endline!

One official did the sectional final on Comcast with Marist and Bogan and is maybe 5'6. Darn good official |

Us taller, non rail-thin, officials have our own stereotypes to overcome. Main one is that we are looked at as "lumbering". I have to consciously be aware of my posture and running style at all times. Actually got a compliment in camp last year that I "run and move very athletically for my size". I can see it on film too. I have to run on my toes so I appear to be light on my feet. When I run flat-footed, even if I'm covering more distance with my strides, I look slow.

It is probably the arms straight out in front of you that makes you look like you are lumbering! |

LOL...because I was going to make a Frankenstein reference when I was posting that.
