I'm a newbie to reffing so I need help with this problem. I'll be going to basketball camp next week, and the organizer said one evening we'd be drinking beer and "swapping lies". Anyone have any good "lies" I could tell? (I'd settle for true but hilarious stories, as long as they sound like lies!)
Thanks!! |

Don't make anything up just to fit in. You're a new official, and everyone there will know it.
My advice: listen to what the others say, you'll pick up some good tips on dealing with coaches, handling unusual situations, and even times where people screwed up. Ask questions if you can, but spend most of your time just listening. Some of my most valuable officiating insights have come from just listening big-time officials telling stories over a beverage or two. |

Yeah something tells me any advice at this point has been overcome by events. The OP either washed up years ago or is working in the NBA by now.
When this post was made, I was 20 years old, on a training cruise aboard the USS Hué City, and enjoying a port visit in Montego Bay. I didn't have to be 21 to drink beer (Red Stripe, anyone?), and many lies were swapped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
