Police say fan attacked coach after Springfield Catholic Youth Organization basketball game | masslive.com

Police are searching for a fan who allegedly attacked a basketball coach Friday night in the Holy Name School gymnasium.
Police said a fan began attacking the coach just after the game ended and as young players were shaking hands in the spirit of sportsmanship. The alleged attacker started punching the coach of the winning youth team in the Catholic Youth Organization finals and then bit off part of his ear, according to Lt. Robert P. Moynihan.
The coach was treated and police detectives are following up on the incident; Moynihan said he was not sure whether the coach recognized his alleged assailant.

Indian teen dies after being beaten - News | FOX Sports on MSN

An Indian teenager died Sunday after being beaten by a group of boys when he dropped a catch during a game of cricket earlier this month.

After dropping a catch, however, the boys on his team got angry and started hitting him with cricket bats, The Times of India reported Monday.

He was taken to a local hospital suffering severe injuries to his hands, legs and shoulders. He died in the hospital on Sunday, after his wounds became seriously infected, officials said.

Authorities have not yet charged anyone over the attack.
