John Cahill

Haven't seen him in any tournaments. Anybody know what his status is?

Well according to StatSheet.com, his last game was on February 15. So he must have gotten hurt somewhere.

Peace

Well that's a shame. Didn't see anything posted here or online about an injury. Great official who keeps an even keel on the court when I see him work.

Excellent article on him in the March 2012 Referee Magazine.

Quite accomplished (19 Tournament appearances, 4 Final Fours and 6 championship games) and appears to be one of the most well respected officials out there.

Funny, I thought Cahill was working the Big East championship last night, but I only had half an eye on the screen. What's even more interesting is that the Box Scores show someone working who only worked 4 D1 games this year. Surely that isn't right.

So who did (actually) work the BE final? I saw Burr there, but I guess I didn't know the other two (thought Cahill was one of them, though).

Mike Stephens and Brian O'Connell. O'Connell has a similar look to Cahill.

...
That's a problem caused by how the names are uploaded to the database. Any variance in spelling or punctuation causes a separate name to indexed.

O'Connell is well travelled on the eastern seaboard. And his running style combined with his silver hair make it easy to mistake him for Cahill.

I had a feeling it was a StstSheet error. I was in the bar after my game and didn't get a great look. Also, looked like Burr had some kind of splint on his hand/wrist -- did anyone catch that?

He's had that on all year. It looks like a sweat band. I have my suspicions as to why but not sure.
